Smooth Ride Skills

Balancing speed and calm / breath and effort / momentum and pause/ fast and not in a hurry

The ABC’s of smooth riding
Anticipation

·      Seeing, noticing the people and vehicles ahead.

·      Anticipating the most oblivious (or worse) and not getting angry.

·      Imagining that you are invisible to others.

Breath

·      Each pause is a chance to breathe and look around, take in the surroundings, check in with the body

·      Finding breath within sustained effort on uphills, regulating your speed to the breath

·      Breath as a measure of smoothness

Communication

·      Eye contact and other non-verbal skills

·      How you communicate calm awareness to everyone around you.
